Hello everyone, We brings you this LEGO orchid today . As a multi-talented player, one of the several series I have collected includes the plant series. Well, this plant series has produced several models since its inception, from the popular bouquets that were in short supply and the popular potted plants that few people paid attention to, to last year’s expensive Strelitzia reginae, to this year’s orchids and succulents, the plant series can be described as It has truly opened up a world of Lego in the Chinese home decoration market. Among them, 10311 Orchid is undoubtedly an excellent set. Next, let’s take a look at how this pot of orchid performs.
In the entire series, I think the potted plants are too small, elegant but not beautiful enough; there are many types of bouquets, and the assembly requires certain skills, but you need to prepare your own bottles for placement; the bird of paradise, like this orchid, has a vivid shape but a set price. Set at 999, the price/performance ratio is uncomfortably low. From this point of view, the orchid priced at 499, with a height of about 40 centimeters and a very vivid and restored shape, is indeed the best in this series.
Lego set
A Lego set like this that is purely ornamental is actually clear at a glance. What you see is what you get. It is highly ornamental but does not have much playability. Therefore, what is more worthy of mentioning is actually the modeling effect and the clever use of parts.
First, let’s take a look at the manual, which is a thin book. Like the packaging box, it adopts the pure black adult series style, which clearly defines its positioning as an adult collection.
Another point worth mentioning is that the instructions provide a variety of flower layouts, with various postures for you to create by yourself, which can be achieved by changing the direction of the corner axis of the flower stem.
My eyes came to the blue-gray flowerpot under the finished product. This flowerpot is a brand-new cylinder, and the modeling technology used is still very clever. The skeleton inside the vase can be seen to be realized by Lego using four layers of stacked turntables.
The advantage of this is that after placing the red cylinder, you can rotate it at a fixed rotation angle. Rotate each layer to varying degrees to achieve even dispersion of peripheral pins, which makes it possible to fix the outer wall parts of the flowerpot. The entire circle here is divided into 16 parts, and the outward pins have 16 directions. Then you can plug in the technology parts of the same color, and then install the blue-gray flowerpot parts.
Among the sixteen equally divided parts, each edge (the width of a single flowerpot part) occupies the width of two bumps, which is very precise. This provides a good reference for future MOC players to make cylinder shapes.
Flower Pot
Next, let’s go back to the model itself. After assembling the lower flowerpot, the leaves and rhizomes above are all connected to the structure inside the flowerpot through cross axes.
The orchid leaves are connected together through a variety of arc-shaped bricks for overall restoration.
There are also a lot of brown or dark brown mountain or claw parts stuffed inside the flower pot to simulate the large-grain substrate (rotten fibrous roots and soil clods) used in real orchid cultivation. The difference from last year’s Bird of Paradise is that the Bird of Paradise is filled with small round particles, which are the one-by-one round particles commonly used in mosaic paintings.
Next, you can see the flower stems above, which are connected together with dark green shaft connectors at different angles and in different directions. Here you can see two black cross-shaft rods in the center, which are meant to restore the support rods in real orchid pots.
A black corner technology plate is used in the middle of the support pole to connect the support pole and flower stems to increase stability.
LEGO, who is crazy about details, even made connections at the forks of the flower stems. It making the side branches biologically related to the main trunk.
The flowers of this orchid consist of several large flowers, two small flowers and a bud.
This little flower is very interesting. It uses the head part of the villain Devil Dog in Stranger Things 1 and repaints it.
Next, let’s take a look at the flowers of this orchid. Judging from the shape, it should be a Phalaenopsis. Phalaenopsis has 5 petals in total, with two large petals and three small petals. Each side of the upper and lower sides.
Large petals
The large petals on both sides are this kind of overall hemispherical parts. The middle part of the stamen uses a dark pink gear, and the protruding stamens are two pink technology parts. This is often used in the shape of technology group cars. . Then there is a pink toad part in the center of the stamen (pink toad: Umbridge, Harry fans understand it well).
I have to mention that the way the petals are connect and fix is also very interesting. This petal part is actually a shield held by a minifigure. When we insert the small fork part into the gap of the handle, and then use the claw part to jam the shield, a very clever part is achieved.
So finally, let’s make a summary of this orchid: This is a set that is very suitable for indoors. The elegant shape of this orchid is quite restore and vivid. The orchid also symbolizes the traditional culture of China. He is highly respect for his noble conduct. Although this set only has 600 parts, the finished product is really huge and cost-effective. This orchid is definitely the best-performing set in the LEGO plant series. It not to mention the many wonderful uses of parts during the building process. Shown below is the orchid suit in Fred’s office building rest area, bedroom window sill and teaching and research room workstation.
